Not only has the latest devkit surprised us with a lot of new creature models, it also comes with new textures. A while back we covered the Direbear, Eel and Eurypterid, and these are now back and fully colorized (and even fur for the Direbear). Hopefully this means we will see them in one of the upcoming patches, as they are nearly finished at this point. Colored Eel The Eel was already covered in a previous devkit preview, but this time it comes with a color! We really like the yellow dots on the side. Will be scary to see those spots in the distance when diving deepRead More →

A new devkit version was released today, which brings a lot of new creature previews with it. For now it are mostly models, but it at least gives an indication which creatures are currently worked on. Some of these have been announced a long time ago, for instance the Manta, but the dossier of the Titanosaur has only been recently released and also available in the devkit. Unfortunately we cannot predict which of them will be released the first, but we can give you some previews on how they look already! Keep in mind that they are currently only modeled, so the texture will not be that beautifulRead More →

It’s been on the patch notes list for a while, but patch v236 is finally getting there. Drake was so nice to release some screenshots of things we can expect in the upcoming patch, which you can find below. These screenshots include the beaver and the new handcuffs (although they look pretty big to be actually used as handcuffs). Enjoy 🙂 The patch is scheduled for today, which means it shouldn’t be too long before you can ride your own beaver into battle!  Read More →

As of v235, ARK now supports user-created localizations and custom fonts! How to localize ARK yourself 1. In the Windows game, you’ll find a new app here: \Tools\LocalizationManager\LocalizationManager.exe Run it, check the languages you wish to work on, and then click ArchiveFiles->XLS to generate an excel spreadsheet of all the localizations (separated by Tabs if you wanna work on more than one language at a time). This export process takes a couple minutes, so give it time and it will eventually say “completed” on the status panel. Then you can upload that XLS to Google Docs or whatnot for easy group editing. 2. When you’re ready toRead More →

eurypterid

A small dev kit update was released today, which means that we are able to show you some more upcoming creatures and items. It is not that much, as the dev kit update only includes a single version, but it is always nice to see what’s on the roadmap of the devs. Eurypterid The oceans surrounding the island are getting a new creature: the Eurypterid. It looks like an ocean-version of the scorpion and it will be used for getting special “black pearls” (at least, that is what the dossiers tells us). Currently only the model is available in the dev kit and looks like this: GiantRead More →

Patch v235 is planned for today (February 5) and will bring us a lot of new content, including the Terror Bird and grappling hook. Drake has released some teaser screenshots for you to see, which you can find below. Terror Bird One of the things that makes the Terror Bird awesome, are his tiny wings. They are too small to be able to fly with it, but you can glide instead! If you want to see how it looks, check out the spotlight video at the bottom of this post. It will result in a lot of funny glides of cliffs and mountains, at least forRead More →

It shouldn’t come as a surprise when we say that the Xbox version is behind the PC version in terms of content. To make everything a little clearer, we will create an overview that lists all the current differences between the two versions. That way you can keep track of which features will be released in a future update. The list is divided into a couple of categories, to make it easier to find the things you are looking for. If it is not in the list, then that means that it is available in both the Xbox version as the PC version of the game.Read More →
